The recommendation on the ethical principles of research involving nature and the environment and ethical review is now open for comments.

The recommendation Ethical Principles for Research Involving Nature and the Environment and a Proposal for Organising Ethical Review in Finland (the LYTE recommendation, working title), drafted by the Finnish National Board on Research Integrity TENK, is now in the consultation phase.

The aim of the recommendation is to support researchers in identifying and handling ethical issues concerning nature and the environment, and to minimise negative impacts of research on nature, the environment and living organisms.

The recommendation is intended to be published in June 2026, and TENK invites the research community to comment on its draft version. Feedback is welcomed especially from those with expert, advisory or administrative roles in research ethics as well as from ethics committees.

Please submit your comments via an online feedback survey by Monday, 27 April 2026. The Finnish draft has been embedded into the survey form. The form is in Finnish, but responses can be submitted in Swedish or English as well.

The Finnish draft and its unofficial English translation can be downloaded below as PDFs.
